Stanley C. Gale and Patricia J. Petersen Named Huntington Hospital Centennial Gala Honorees

HUNTINGTON, NY – Huntington residents Patricia J. Petersen and Stanley C. Gale have been named the honorees of the 2016 Huntington Hospital Centennial Gala.

Both Mr. Gale, chairman and chief executive officer of Gale International, and Ms. Petersen, president and CEO of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, have a deep and rich history with Huntington Hospital. The Gale family and Ms. Petersen have long been generous donors, supporting capital projects at the hospital over the decades.

Stan Gale and his extended family are long time Huntington residents. His grandfather, Daniel Gale, established the first office of what is now Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty in Huntington in 1922. His father, D. Kent Gale, was born in the original Huntington Hospital building and grew up near the home of Cornelia Prime, who donated the land Huntington Hospital sits on.

His three children, Stan among them, were also born at Huntington Hospital. Ms. Petersen, who became a resident of Huntington in 1974, has been a board member of Huntington Hospital for 10 years and a philanthropic supporter of the hospital for more than 30 years.

“Huntington Hospital has long been a vital resource for the Huntington community,” said Pat Petersen. “The hospital depends upon the generosity of its neighbors to help it continue to meet the demands of 21st century health care. It is an honor to play a role in continuing its history of excellence.”

Mr. Gale and Ms. Petersen previously donated $1 million to Huntington Hospital’s newborn nursery and are in the process of announcing a new gift to name the hospital’s new emergency department results waiting room. Huntington Hospital is currently constructing a new emergency department, which will double its previous size and allow for increased efficiency and capacity. The new emergency department is slated to open in the beginning of 2017.

“Huntington Hospital is constantly looking to evolve to best meet the needs of its patients and future patients; this funding will go a long way toward helping the hospital to do that,” said Gerard Brogan, Jr., MD, executive director of the hospital. “We greatly appreciate the Gale family and Pat Petersen’s generosity.”
